The iRiver iHP140, H140, iriver 40, or HP40, as we haven't actually heard this Jukebox called, but would imagine that it could be.

As this player is no longer available we suggest you look at this player instead.

The iRiver iHP range in general (including the H140) are reviewed on another page. You can read a review of all those features that the iHP-120 and iHP-140 have in common by clicking here.

40GB of space - once the upper-upper end of the jukebox market, 40GB is no longer an excessive amount of storage space. 40GB will allow you to store approximately 660 hours of MP3s or 700 if you chose to store all you music as the even more compressed WMA. You can get about the same number of hours of music from Ogg Vorbis as from WMA.

iRiver iHP-140 (H140) Info

  • 40GB storage
  • Full Record function
  • MP3 and WMA playback
  • Ogg vorbis playback
  • Built in radio tuner
  • Wired remote control inlcuded
  • Large screen upon which text files can be read
  • Slim build, nice style, light weight

700 hours of music is more than most people currently care to own, but the superior compression afforded by Ogg or WMA means that you can use the remaining non-music space on your iHP 140 jukebox to carry large volumes of data files. This jukebox will take up to 350 hours worth of tracks and still carry an additional 20GB of data as well (approximately).

iRiver are still to sort out their pricing strategy for the iHP-140, but its more than a feeling that once they do this will blow away almost everything else in its path. Its nearest competitor in terms of musical features (excluding video, or digital camera features, which the iRivers are unfortunately lacking) and overall design is the other iHP.

Those other things that the iHP-120 has in common with the iHP-140 (some of which are summarised in the table on the right) are described and reviewed on a separate page: here

The iHP-140 is super slim, its very light and if you want to buy one just click below.
