Creative labs MuVo2, MuVo^2 or Creative MuVo squared, depending on how you choose to type it. This MuVo2 comes with 1.5GB of storage and is a nice little departure for Creative.

This player has been superceded by the Creative Zen Nano Plus 1GB Black and is no longer available.

As has become traditional when there are more than one size of the same jukebox available we have put a detailed description, review and notes of all those things the Creative labs MuVo2, MuVo^2 range has in common on a separate page to try to limit the amount of repetition.

Sometimes this leaves us with little else to write on these pages, but we have to give you some specific data, so here is some maths.

The Creative MuVo squared 1.5GB costs £0.12 per MB. That seems rather expensive per MB when you compare it with large capacity models, but you do get a lot of capacity compared to RAM based models which typically have 128MB of storage, or more than 10 times less than this model.

This time the Creative Marketing dept have got some of their MuVo maths correct. This 1.5GB unit will hold approx. 25 hours of MP3s (encoded at 128Kbps). Be slightly more wary of claims of 50 hours of WMA though. Best you could comfortably get out of the 1.5GB by using WMA would be about 30 - 35 hours.

The MuVo 1.5GB Jukebox is surprisingly good. For a start (as already mentioned) it has 1.5GB of space. 25+ hours of music is significant, in that you know that you have more than a full earth day's music with you. This should keep you prepared for most eventualities.

That 1.5 GB of space can be used for music, as detailed above, or for storing or moving data. More than 1000 times more data than a 1.44MB diskette can hold (the sort that you would stick in the A: drive of a computer) but this MuVo's size is relatively small.

Any criticism of this model?

1.5 GB may well be a lot more than 128 MB, but its still quite a bit less than 20GB. In terms of value, the 1.5 GB model is the more expensive of these MuVos with a cost per MB of £0.12
