Are Apple finally catching-up with the likes of Archos and
iRiver with this 30GB photo capable offering? Yes!
The 30GB iPod photo and the 60GB iPod photo are essentially the same jukebox
with different capacities. You can see a full description and review of the
30GB and 60GB iPod photo models here.
This page is specifically for the iPod 30GB photo version.
30GB is an unusual - though not unheard of - capacity. Traditionally the capacities
of the HD models go: 20GB 40GB 80GB. The only other major manufacturer (at the
time of writing) that does use a 30GB and 60GB jukebox model are Creative Labs.
Apple iPod Photo 30GB Info |
- 30GB Capacity
- View and display photos
- Stores album art
- iPod features
- iPod style
| However, using a greater capacity is a smart marketing ploy by Apple. It means
that when you compare players of 20GB capacity that have slightly better features
to one that costs approximately the same, has 30GB of storage and has the name
iPod, it makes the iPod look pretty good. You could almost use the phrase 'value
for money'! (Since the prices came down at least).
30GB gets you a standard 500 or so hours of MP3 music encoded at 128Kbps. You
can get slightly more AAC if you use a more rigorous compression rate
(down to 98Kbps, for example). That 'slightly more per track' translates to
an extra hundred hours or so overall!
30GB also means serious amounts of photos can be stored. Approximately 12,000
jpegs worth of images would fill this baby. The best use, though, you would
have to say is a combination of photos and images.
iPod 30GB photo is a good photo-jukebox that offers good features and good
value. If you don't believe us have a look at how this model performs in a FIGHT!, or if you want to order yours just click below.
