The Creative Zen Sleek Photo 20GB MP3 Player has been given a bright colour OLED display on which to display images and enjoy audio. It has a pleasing slender profile, is made from sturdy and durable aluminium and the advanced touchpad control places all functions a fingertip away.

As well as playing MP3s and WMAs and being compatible with many online music services the Zen Sleek has an advanced colour OLED screen that displays photos with extra brightness and a wide angle of vision. Its 20GB storage capacity can store and display thousands of photos as well as up to 10,000 songs.

Creative have never desisted from this kind of nonsense. Outright lies, if you will. By their own account the 10,000 x 4 min songs are encoded into WMA at 64kbps. Those figures do work out, the problem is that the quality of the tracks encoded so harshly leaves a lot to be desired. So much so that no-one would encode a whole 20GB of music that way. That's not such a crime as someone could encode their 20GB at 64 kbps and listen to it and insist that that's the way they like it. As far as normal people and normal usage are concerned, 10,000 tracks is an exaggeration.

The really annoying bit is that Creative state that you can have thousands of photos and “up to” 10,000 tracks. Together. If you do go for the 10,000 tracks option, that's all your 20GB of space gone. Where are you going to fit thousands of photos? No doubt some people would say the “up to” disclaimer absolves them of any direct wrongdoing.

Having said all that, don't let the spin put you off. This player is a great machine. It really is sleek. Its combination of features (photo/ fm radio/ mp3 player) and slim and light design make it a top drawer dukebox.

The battery gives playtimes of up to 19 hours which is excellent for a player with a colour screen to power. The built-in FM radio and microphone mean you can record your voice and music directly to its hard drive for later.
