Where do you go from the last digital video camera for the AV100? Perhaps Archos took offense at the fact that we called the photo quality of the 100 Camera "serviceable". It's unlikely, but, it could happen. Perhaps "top drawer" is the only approach that Archos understand. Regardless of the reasoning behind it this is the result.

A 3.3 mega pixel digital camera attachment for the AV300 series jukebox, the AVCam 300.

It takes digital photographs of a very high quality, AND, like some digital cameras it allows you to make digital films too. Unlike most digital cameras, however, that film could be 80 hours long as this module records the images (moving or still) directly on to your AV300 jukebox hard drive.

We really are into 'bees knees' territory, here.

Is it the best video camera in the world? Yes. As near as damit, at least. 3.3 mega pixels is the sort of digital imaging quality that some of the really really good digital cameras have and they cost a sight more than this camera module. Granted, this module is usleless without an AV300 series jukebox to attach it too, but if you're going to buy an AV300 jukebox and you were thinking about getting a quality digital camera to go along with it then you should buy this.

If you were thinking about buying a Camcorder, don't. Buy the AV300 and this camera module instead. It will proabably cost you about the same and you get all the other features of the jukebox thrown-in.

The plugs into the Multimedia's expansion slot giving it a 3X optical zoom and 10 x orignal zoom. The LCD display becomes your viewfinder. Unlike ordinary digital cameras, with the Archos Multimedia Camera Module your storage capacity is limited only by the size of your Multimedia's hard disk space - up to 200,000 pictures (depending on resolution) or 40 to 80 hours of DVD-like quality MPEG4 videos. Even greater quantities on the AV380.
